SS Indigo, Twelve's Company: OUT NOW

Updated: Nov 30, 2022

SS Indigo is a tale of a group of strangers invited on a mystery Caribbean cruise by secretive billionaire Emol Litions, and after nearly 2 years in the making is OUT NOW!

Around 13 years ago, I first thought about writing a novel - I wanted to tell stories that I had heard on my various travels. I had always been intrigued by the less so obvious stories of legends, experiences, of hardships, and of often unsung heroes.

All this time, and six novels later, SS Indigo was released on 24th November 2022 - a date that I will remember for the rest of my life.

SS Indigo, Twelves Company, has been by far the hardest of the six so far - a group of eclectic strangers invited to a Caribbean cruise with twelve characters, twelve stories, and twelve mysteries, and one thing in common.

Weaving the many moving parts into one storyline was my challenge - many drafts, a major rewrite, and several edits.

During the pandemic, I came to know an octogenarian, Jim Craig, the son of a cowboy growing up under the gaze of Mount Hood, Oregon. Jim and I became good friends, and he read all of my books one after the other. My novels depleted, he agreed to review an early draft of SS Indigo - a former chemical engineer at Chevron, an avid tennis player and fan, baseball, and San Francisco Chronicle reader, Jim delivered his brutal but honest feedback, which got me back to the drawing board, and back on track.

Now SS Indigo is complete and published, I look back and realize that so much has changed since I started the book. A reminder that the only constant in life is change.

The month of publication, my uncle Billy Mitchell passed away, and on the day of publication, Thanksgiving Day, 2022, my own Mother, Polly Mitchell followed him - God rest their souls.

This book is dedicated to them.

"To my good friend, Jim Craig, for all your wisdom and your cheer, this book is a reminder of when you were here."
"My Uncle Billy, always inpriring, illuminating, and never a doubt - your faith in me from a tender age gave me the belief to what I am about."

And to my Mother, who passed peacefully listening to her favorite playlist with my sister:

"You were always there through thick and thin, in times of need. I know when we meet again, the sky will be blue, the sun will shine, and until that time, you will be forever in my mind."

This book, SS Indigo, is dedicated to you all, all my friends, family, my wife, my daughter, and my son, and hopefully, for many generations to come.

In the words of my friend, James A. Craig,

"That's all from me (for now), sports fans!"

Until next time. Fair winds and good sailing.

SS INDIGO is published with iUniverse Publishing and is available through most major online retailers, including IndieBound, Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and many more.

Willy Mitchell is an indie author, writer, and storyteller.

Mitchell's first title was Operation ARGUS, and then the sequel Bikini BRAVO where a group of former Special Air Service operatives enter the dark and murky world of maskirovka and discover the lengths that some people will go to for power and greed.

Cold COURAGE tells the epic tale of Shackleton's 1914 Trans-Antarctic Expedition and all that was happening in those extraordinary times.

Book four, Northern ECHO, tells the story of two boys growing up during the punk rock revolution in the north of England and how a dark secret keeps them apart until the end.

Gipsy MOTH is about his Aunt Nikki, her friend, and fellow Aviatrix Amy Johnson and Amelia Earhart on the other side of the pond during the golden age of aviation.

SS INDIGO tells the story of a group of eclectic guests invited by a mysterious billionaire to a luxury cruise in the Caribbean. They all have one thing in common.

All of Mitchell's books so far are novels, works of fiction blended with real events. For further information or on how to buy his books, visit his author's website:
